Products and processing
ThyssenKrupp Aerospace stocks titanium in both commercially pure and alloyed forms.
The principal characteristics of commercially pure titanium include an excellent resistance to corrosion by a wide range of natural and artificial environments, together with a useful strength-to-weight ratio.
Commercially pure titanium can be readily forged, formed, welded, etc., by most of the processes conventionally used for the stainless steels, which it resembles in many mechanical and chemical respects.
The most common and widely used titanium alloy in the aerospace industry is 6Al-4V, which is used for applications requiring higher strength and corrosion resistance.
Stock Range
- Standard sizes are 2 m x 1 m (6½ ft x 3¼ ft)
- We stock many non-standard sizes
- Thicknesses from 0.41 mm to 152.4 mm (0.016 in to 6.0 in) are available
- Forged blocks up to 304.8 mm (12 in) are also stocked
Cut to Size
- Any size can be cut from our stock range with a tolerance of ± 0.50 mm (0.0197 in)
Surface Protection
- All stock items are held in temperature controlled warehouses to prevent condensation
- If required all sheet can be PVC coated either one or both sides
Forging
ThyssenKrupp Aerospace provides a selection of custom made forgings.
Waterjet technology
Using the latest in waterjet pump technology, we are able to create up to 87,000 psi (6,000 bar) of pressure to move water and abrasive through material at speeds up to Mach 3.
